The recently announced Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions (EAGLE) initiative is a comprehensive public-private partnership consisting of aviation, petroleum industry, and U.S. government stakeholders. ICAS has joined a group of private aviation organizations in a collaborative partnership that includes General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and others.
Working toward the goal to transition to lead-free aviation fuels for piston-engine aircraft by the end of 2030, the initiative is seen as an aggressive yet necessary step toward the future of aviation fuels. The intent is to lead a transition to high-octane fuel options for piston powered aircraft without compromising safety or economic health of the general aviation industry.
“ICAS has been a leader in many aviation related initiatives, and we see this important transition as an opportunity for us to step up once again,” said ICAS President John Cudahy. “Partnering with these leading organizations give us an opportunity to showcase the power of the air show industry, and to assist in promoting and solving this complex task.”
Work on EAGLE will begin this spring and is expected to include multiple additional organizations as the project progresses and develops.
