For years, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program suffered from intense criticism and a misinformed public opinion. Now, with the new F-35 Demonstration Team performing at air shows across North America, the team is changing minds.

Although the aerobatic demonstration of the F-35, piloted by Capt. Andrew “Dojo” Olson, is widely recognized as an impressive spectacle into the F-35’s raw power and high-tech flight control capabilities, the team’s media efforts have also played a significant role in the recent change in public opinion. Primarily managed by Senior Airman Alexander Cook and Staff Sgt. Jensen Stidham, the two have implemented a re-brand strategy and have incorporated high quality photography and videography into the team’s media communications.

And the result has been significant. In just 150 days, the team has grown its Instagram following by 44,200 followers – quicker than most other air show social media channels.
