Using 100% of the money generated by the Socially Distant Virtual Air Show held earlier this week, the ICAS Foundation is accepting grant requests from ICAS members who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and air show cancellations.
“The team that organized and conducted the Socially Distant Air Show on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week raised just under $25,000 and entrusted the ICAS Foundation to disburse it,” says ICAS Foundation Executive Director and CEO Mike Kaufman. “And our goal is to do that as quickly as possible so that it gets into the hands of those most in need when it’s most useful to them.”
Kaufman said that, to ensure that the money in the new Friendship Fund is directed to air show professionals most in need, the grant criteria developed by the ICAS Foundation are based on ICAS membership, percentage of annual income derived from air show activities, and the adjusted gross income of the applicants. The names of grant recipients will be kept confidential from all but the members of the grant disbursement committee, chaired by ICAS Foundation Board member Doreen Hillard.
